- Operating and maneuvering the clamp truck: The primary duty of a clamp truck operator is to operate the clamp truck with precision to lift and move roll stock. The driver also navigates the equipment in tight spaces, positions the clamps to grip and transport the materials safely and securely.
- Transporting and stacking materials: Another key duty of a clamp truck operator is to move materials from one location to another and stack them in an organized and safe manner. This requires careful attention to detail to ensure that the materials are stacked properly, so they do not shift or fall.
- Loading and unloading materials: Clamp truck operators may also be responsible for loading and unloading materials from trucks and other transport vehicles.
- Conducting routine maintenance and inspections: To ensure that the clamp truck equipment is in good working order, drivers perform routine maintenance and inspections, such as checking fluid levels, inspecting the clamps, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
- Following safety guidelines and procedures: It is critical that clamp truck drivers always adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to ensure safe vehicle operation and avoid accidents. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, following speed limits and traffic patterns, and maintaining a safe distance from other workers and equipment.
- Communicating with team members: Effective communication with other team members is essential for a clamp truck operator to ensure efficient warehouse coordination. This may include communicating with warehouse managers, production supervisors, and other drivers.
- Maintaining accurate records: To ensure that inventory is effectively managed and accounted for, clamp truck operators maintain accurate records of the materials they move and stack, including the quantity, location, and any other relevant information.
- Identifying unloaded rolls with tags of First in - First Out program
- Checking corrugator schedules, and obtaining and delivering the appropriate roll stock to the various corrugator wet end positions
- returning down (butt) and/or unused rolls from the corrugator wet end to the roll stock warehouse
- keeping track of roll stock tallies
- completing accurate records for roll stock consumption
- helping wet end corrugator crews, if required
- helping on other parts of the corrugator when the machine is down
- maintaining clean and organized work areas and keep rolls covered
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- The qualifications for roll stock operators are the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodation.
- Be certified and safely operate a forklift and clamp truck.
- The ability to read, write, and speak English preferred but not required
- The ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler, and use basic shop math
- The ability to learn, follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team
