Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. Your work will involve direct interaction with residents, helping them with daily activities and fostering an environment of care and respect.

Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Provide personal care in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Monitor and document vital signs as needed, ensuring accurate records are maintained through EMR systems.
  • Administer medication according to prescribed guidelines while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Engage residents in social activities and promote community involvement to enhance their social skills and independence.
  • Implement behavior management strategies as required, supporting residents in managing their behaviors effectively.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light cleaning duties as necessary
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering positive relationships.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
  • Knowledge of first aid practices and vital sign monitoring is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • A valid driver's license may be required for transportation purposes.
  • Compassionate nature with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and professionalism.
