Summary:
The Technology Specialist will collaborate with child life specialists, music therapists, child life assistants and therapeutic arts in the management, implementation, and innovation of gaming, technology, and media arts.
Responsibilities:
* Provide education to staff on the utilization of new technology; collaborate with child life and music therapy staff on technology opportunities for patients and families
* Builds relationships and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop resources for and conduct program pilots with patients and families
* Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, updates and repairs child life gaming and technology systems and related peripheral equipment, collaborate with Information Services and Desktop Support team members for effective implementation of patient centered technology.
* Provide digital media experiences for patients and families including but not limited to VR, AR, 3-D printing, gaming, filming, recording and robotics
* Promote optimal adjustment of patients and families through the use of technology to aid in coping and understanding of their treatment, illness and disability.
* Provide input to child life or music therapy team members about observed specific needs of individual children; determine when the needs of individual children should be attended to by medical professionals and / or outside the general scope of the role.
* Document patient interactions in the electronic medical record.
* Engage in metrics tracking and reporting to share program growth and achievements.
* Proactively round in hospital environment to identify and remediate patient technology needs and provide creative technology opportunities for patients and families.
* Provide guidance and supervision to community technology groups visiting the playroom(s); Provide guidance and supervision for technology volunteers doing individual patient activities
* Develop and implement innovative and adaptive technologies as funding allows.
* Act as a resource regarding new technologies.
* Engage in research related to gaming and technology during hospitalization and impact on patient's hospitalization
* Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job
* Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
How You'll Be Successful:
WORK EXPERIENCE
* Less than 1 year Experience with Virtual reality and AR technologies, robots, game consoles, laptops, tablets. Knowledge of IOS, Android and Window-based devices. at least 6 months. Experience in setting up and configuring technology devices Required
* At least 1 year Exceptional customer service skills, effective solution focused approaches to care delivery. Required
* At least 1 year Experience working children and families. Required
EDUCATION
* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Bachelor's degree in IT, Education, Child Development, or related field Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Certified Child Life Specialist Preferred
