We're looking for a Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team at Southampton Financial Inc. In this role, you'll ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, analyze key performance metrics, and provide actionable insights that drive business decisions. You'll work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment, supporting our mission to transform the insurance industry through innovation, collaboration, and financial excellence.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Ensure the accurate and timely completion of month-end closing activities.
2. Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
3. Reconcile commission receivables on direct bill policies, as well as premium receivables and payables on agency bill policies.
4. Prepare and analyze accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports.
5. Reconcile and analyze intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
6. Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
7. Conduct variance analysis on the general ledger, providing clear explanations for deviations from budget and forecast.
8. Support the preparation of financial management analysis reports and presentation materials.
9. Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements.
10. Liaise independently with external auditors to provide required documentation and support in a timely manner.
11. Assist with the preparation of corporate tax returns and related filings.
12. Perform other related duties and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce or equivalent professional experience
- CPA designation or working towards one.
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in accounting or finance
- Experience within P&C insurance industry is preferred within a commercial/personal lines brokerages
- Experience within a multi-entity organization is preferred.
- Experience with Netsuite or similar ERP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with Advanced level excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently, exhibit critical thinking skills and self-motivated.
