Outpatient Coder Educator

We are hiring an Outpatient Coder Educator responsible for providing coding education, training, and audit support to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices across outpatient departments. This role requires a high level of expertise in ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding and CPT procedure coding. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established processes while promoting coding accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Educate and mentor coding staff on ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level 1 coding guidelines, focusing on outpatient and surgical coding.
  • Conduct coding audits and provide feedback to ensure compliance with organizational, payer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to clarify documentation and support accurate code assignment.
  • Develop and deliver training materials, presentations, and resources to improve coding accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay current with coding updates, regulatory changes, and payer requirements.
  • Utilize data and reports to identify trends, training needs, and performance improvement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT coding skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities with the capacity to follow structured processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Epic EHR experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of outpatient coding experience required.
  • Credential(s) such as CPC, COC, CCS, or RHIT/RHIA

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $39.00 per hour
