Job Summary

Optimum is a leading provider of Mobile, Broadband (DOCSIS, Fiber) and Video services in the United States.  The Product Development organization is responsible for the technology enablement and development of these technologies for our customers along with the tools used by our teams to support them. 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the SQE II QA Automation Engineering will participate as part of a highly skilled software development team to accelerate automation of our end-to-end testing capabilities that improve productivity, drive efficiency, and ensure the quality and reliability of our software products.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to our software development tools roadmap accelerating our development teams. 
  • Automate our end-to-end testing capabilities across all products including broadband, video, customer support and technician support tools to 80% automated test coverage. 
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.  Implement appropriate tools for automation. 
  • Introduce capabilities to do effective A/B testing of releases across test populations. 
  • Leverage developer tools and test automation to transform our software release processes and enable the development teams to get capabilities to customers faster. 
  • Contribute to a structured knowledge base that allows teams to create, maintain and extend documentation for all our developer tools and processes. 
  • Implement tools to identify, document and track software defects.  Work closely with the development teams to resolve issues and ensure timely fixes. 
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance testing practices, tools, and metrologies. 
  • Implement tools to monitor and report on key quality metrics including defect rates, test coverage and test execution progress.  Analyze metrics to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Establish and gain acceptance for Key Results indicated by our development pipeline and automation test frameworks. 
  • Use prototypes and proof of concepts as the primary tool for deep and detailed explorations of architecture and software designs. 
  • Go-to advocate for automation in the organization. 
  • Continue to make Optimum a Developer Friendly Environment. 
Qualifications
  • ​​​​Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, automation, and tools
  • Proficiency in variety of programming languages (Python, Java, C#) 
  • Experience with Google cloud or Amazon Web Services and their capabilities
  • Thorough understanding of software methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Experience with the implementation and optimization CI/CD Pipelines
  • Experience with the automation of test cases
  • Good intuition for software design, actively looking to learn from other teams and projects
  • Experience with data formats and locality with performance considerations
  • Demonstrated experience solving performance and data issues by applying experience/knowledge
  • Completely comfortable working with live production systems, debugging issues and taking careful actions with protections against damage
  • Contributes to establishing and maintaining corporate policies related to technology

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $100, $164,689.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
