We are seeking an accounting leader with a desire to build efficiencies and automate processes where possible. The accountant will report to the company's Financial Reporting Manager and will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of internal and external financial statements in compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare and file state and regulatory requests
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements in compliance with SAP, liaising with the independent auditor to ensure that they are issued in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and analyze complex financial reports to support individual entity and consolidated financial reporting, utilizing a broad knowledge of accounting policies and procedures
  • Perform fluctuation analysis and provide explanations for unexpected activity and trends.
  • Research and resolve reconciling issues; recommend and take corrective action.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements; suggest and implement related solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Related experience preferred
  • Understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial statements.
  • Experience in the insurance industry and familiarity with statutory accounting principles is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and other financial software.
  • Solid analytical and financial problem-solving skills.

SALARY RANGE

The pay range for this position is $56,000 to $85,500 annually. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
