Based in Pittsburgh, we are seeking a Sr. Research Assistant - Pittsburg. PA who will work under the general direction of a faculty researcher or senior research staff and independently conducts a variety of operational and technical activities key to the conduct of and direction of the research.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop data collection tools based on understanding of underlying study design.
  • Participate in developing standard operating procedures for one or more studies.
  • Design and set up standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee data collection.
  • Analyze data under general oversight and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities and provide training for new staff on study.
  • Conduct literature searches to pull background material and identify information relevant and applicable to research interest.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above

  • Housing mobility programs are designed to help families move from high poverty neighborhoods into lower poverty, better resourced ones. The MOVED (Mobility Opportunity Vouchers to Eliminate Diabetes and Obesity) Study is designed to test whether helping families move changes adult and child health. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Department of Health Policy & Management is seeking a Sr. Research Assistant (RA) based in Pittsburgh who will assist with tasks on the MOVED Study.
  • The Sr. Research Assistant will be responsible for independently scheduling appointments and making reminder/confirmation calls.
  • At the time of the appointment, the Sr. Research Assistant will complete phone and in-person survey interviews from one adult and one child in the family home.
  • In addition, the data collection will include taking measures of participants height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, and a finger stick for diabetes, at the participants home.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience working within a research setting, preferably with field experience or engaging and recruiting participants.
  • Previous experience engaging participants from diverse backgrounds.
  • An interest and experience in housing, neighborhood factors, and/or food policy preferred.

Education and Experience Equivalency
