Position Summary

The ITSM CMDB Principal Consultant is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and ongoing governance of the Configuration

Management Database (CMDB) within the ITSM framework. This role ensures the CMDB supports enterprise-wide visibility, operational

efficiency, and compliance by maintaining accurate and complete configuration item (CI) data. The CMDB Principal Consultant collaborates

with infrastructure, application, and service teams to define CI models, relationships, and data quality standards aligned with HCA's business

and IT strategies.

Responsibilities

· Architect and maintain the CMDB structure, including CI classes, attributes, and relationships

· Lead the implementation of CMDB solutions, design data discovery processes, governance policies, standards, and procedures.

· Work with stakeholders across IT teams (infrastructure, applications, service mgt) to align the CMDB with business and IT needs

· Provide architectural thought leadership, mentor other team members, and troubleshoot application issues

· Lead CMDB data modeling and normalization efforts across the enterprise

· Advise on CMDB strategy, assess current state, and lead steering committee meetings to review major changes

· Collaborate with ITSM process owners to ensure CMDB supports all ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, etc.)

· Integrate CMDB with discovery tools and other data sources to automate CI population and updates

· Monitor CMDB health and data quality metrics; drive remediation plans for gaps and inaccuracies

· Provide technical leadership for CMDB-related projects and enhancements

· Develop and deliver training and documentation for CMDB stakeholders

· Serve as SME for CMDB audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments

· Partner with vendors and internal teams to optimize CMDB integrations and performance

· Support ServiceNow platform upgrades and feature adoption related to CMDB

Requirements

  • · Minimum 5+ years of experience in ITSM, with 3+ years focused on CMDB architecture or administration
  • · Proven experience with ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery
  • · Strong understanding of ITIL framework, especially Asset and Configuration Management
  • · IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification preferred
  • · Deep knowledge of CMDB design principles, CI lifecycle, and data governance
  • ·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills · Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • · Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority
  • · Experience in healthcare IT environments preferred
  • · Excellent ability to write for different platforms and audiences · Great listener, interviewer, and researcher
  • · Excellent conflict management and negotiation skills to consistently achieve "win-win" results
  • · Passion and concern with improving the organization · Proven organizational skills

Pay: $ $67.00 per hour
