Field Engineer

We are seeking a Field Engineer to join our team supporting the Uranium Processing Facility This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Execute field work for fire protection and suppression piping systems, ensuring timely and safe completion of projects.
- Conduct frequent field walkdowns, climbing scaffolds and navigating complex work environments to monitor installation progress.
- Identify installation restraints, provide practical solutions, and address issues discovered during QC inspections.
- Coordinate with project teams, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow and compliance with project requirements.
- Support the completion of fire protection/suppression systems, leveraging a strong understanding of NFPA 13 and 14 codes and standards as applicable.
Requirements
- Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience
- Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
- Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
- Proven experience as a Field Engineer or Superintendent with a strong background in piping system execution
- Ability to perform field walkdowns, inspect work in progress, and climb scaffolding or ladders safely and efficiently
- Experience identifying and resolving installation issues and addressing QC inspection findings
- Familiarity with NFPA 13/14 codes and standards is preferred but not required; practical field experience takes priority
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to provide hands-on guidance to crews on site
About the Site
The Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) is a construction project at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee that is intended to modernize and replace aging facilities for uranium operations. Once complete, UPF will support the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile, naval reactors, and defense nuclear nonproliferation while ensuring the long-term safety, security, and viability of enriched uranium capabilities in the United States. ().
