Remote, Oregon, United States Steer Full time $60,000 - $100,000 per year

Steer offers a suite of software tools for today's automotive repair shop. We combine a mix of software tools that a repair shop needs to run a highly profitable shop, in one user-friendly, cost-effective platform. Through the Steer suite, we allow the shop owner to get back to focusing on what matters, and to stop worrying about marketing and customer retention.

Steer began as an online directory for drivers to find a local mechanic. Fast forward to today, Steer has launched a complete Customer Relationship Management (CRM) marketing suite, complete with text messaging, email automation, direct mail integration, reputation management, appointment reminders, declined/recommended services, and many other features. We are always innovating and we are proud to be a leader in the automotive repair industry.  In August 2024 Steer acquired AutoOps - the leader in modern, intelligent, and fully integrated scheduling software for auto repair shops. AutoOps allows customers to smoothly schedule through a shop's website and Google Business Profile.

About the Role
This role is part creator, part connector. You'll help us show up in the right places with the right message, earning trust, building engagement, and turning casual scrolls into loyal brand moments. As our Social Media Community Manager, you'll craft content that hits, lead the conversations that matter, and build meaningful relationships across the industry.

If you know how to turn a good quote into a great post, how to make software feel less like software, and a real passion for connecting with real people, you'll thrive here.

You will…

  • Represent the voice of Steer across comments and DMs, responding in a way that feels helpful.
  • Share original short-form content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, etc.) across brand channels that feels relevant, real, and engaging.
  • Highlight the stories of our community and bring their perspectives to life through content.
  • Participate in meaningful conversations across social platforms and industry groups, helping us stay connected to what matters most to our audience.
  • Collaborate with influencers and industry voices who align with our brand, and build relationships that help extend our reach.
  • Identify trends that align with our voice and values, and contribute ideas for how we can thoughtfully join the conversation.
  • Share key insights and community feedback with our marketing and product teams to help guide future content and features.
  • Track and report on metrics like engagement, sentiment, and audience growth to understand what's resonating and inform our ongoing strategy.

You have…

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in social media, content, or community-focused roles
  • A thoughtful and creative approach to content, with a willingness to experiment and adapt based on results.
  • Video storytelling skills and comfort on camera. You can shoot, edit, and publish short-form video content that feels real and watchable, and you know your way around tools like Canva, InShot, and CapCut to make it shine.
  • A strong understanding of how different platforms work and how to tailor content to each.
  • A collaborative mindset.
  • Curiosity and empathy for your audience, and a desire to learn what they care about and how best to support them.
  • Comfortability with occasional travel for events and trade shows.
  • The ability to work independently and move quickly, whether you're jumping on a new campaign, responding to the community, or spinning up a new idea on your own.

Bonus points if you…

  • Have experience with social monitoring tools like Loomly, Agorapulse, or StatusBrew
  • Understand small business culture or have spent time around local, service-based industries
