Overview

As an Insurance Verifier, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the care they need while navigating the complexities of insurance coverage. You will be responsible for verifying insurance benefits and maintaining accurate medical records. Your attention to detail and knowledge of multiple insurance companies and procedure codes will help streamline operations and enhance patient experiences.

What you'll do

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services being rendered
  • Process insurance claims accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for accurate billing
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care plans and medical office procedures
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies
  • Review and update medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in the coordination of care between our office and medical billing when necessary

Basic qualifications

  • Experience in a medical office setting
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices

Preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical coding practices
  • Strong understanding of managed care systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
