Seattle, Washington, United States Amazon Full time $68,000 - $147,400 per year
DESCRIPTION

Ready to tell meaningful stories that shape both internal culture and external reputation at one of the world's most innovative companies? We are seeking a high judgment, creative, and results-driven communications professional for the Finance & Global Business Services (FGBS) Communications team, within Finance and Governance Communications. You'll uncover and craft compelling narratives that bring our work to life, working closely with finance leadership and subject matter experts across FGBS as part of Amazon's broader Communications and Corporate Responsibility (CCR) organization.

Your impact will include:

  • Developing thought leadership content and strategic narratives that transform complex financial and technical concepts into engaging stories
  • Managing external speaking opportunities and PR initiatives for financial news and announcements
  • Creating employee communications that inform and inspire our global workforce
  • Building relationships with stakeholders to surface authentic stories from within the organization
  • Analyzing metrics to optimize content strategy and demonstrate business value

You'll collaborate across teams, including People Experience and Technology, Investor Relations, and other business areas, to engage diverse audiences through strategic communications initiatives.

The ideal candidate thinks strategically, takes initiative, and has a proven track record of developing high-impact narratives across owned, earned, and internal channels. Strong editorial judgment and ability to identify newsworthy angles are essential, as is experience adapting content for different audiences. We value candidates who are excited to experiment with emerging technologies and AI tools to enhance communication effectiveness.

Success in this role requires thriving in a fast-paced environment, embracing ambiguity, and maintaining composure while juggling multiple priorities. You should be confident asking questions, quick to grasp complex issues, and skilled at developing thoughtful messaging strategies under deadline.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support organizational communication and engagement strategy set by the team lead.
  • Write and manage communications for a range of internal and external projects, including events, financial announcements, technology launches, and more.
  • Propose, execute, and scale new ways of creating and distributing communications that expand external and internal awareness.
  • Ensure opportunities to communicate are bar raising in both content and delivery for our internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare PR recommendations on key announcements and developments.
  • Work closely with the Events and Programs Specialist and program partners to design and implement internal and external event content. Partners include HR teams like Recruiting and Student Programs, as well as employee-led groups like the Women in Finance Initiative (WiFi).
  • Grow awareness of external communications processes, opportunities, and purpose through internal channels, partnering closely with Internal Communications.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and communications as needed.

A day in the life

Start your morning collaborating with finance leaders on AWS's strategic AI infrastructure investments, turning technical innovation into a compelling narrative. Join Investor Relations to brainstorm employee communications about financial results. Use AI tools to develop audience personas for media pitches. Take a break for lunch with colleagues, and check out the free art lessons on campus. In the afternoon, interview a finance director about their team's innovative new program, then pivot to editing executive talking points. End your day discussing story opportunities with a reporter. Each day brings varied chances to tell Amazon's stories, both internally and externally.
