Construction Materials Associate Principal

Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced leader to manage our construction materials testing group. As the Construction Materials Department Manager, you will oversee Construction Materials Testing (CMT) operations, field/lab technicians, project deliverables, quality control, and contribute to business growth.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of field service engineering projects and laboratory operations.
- Lead and mentor a team of CMT engineers, project managers, and technicians to ensure operational excellence.
- Ensure all projects comply with CMT engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality control requirements.
- Conduct technical reviews of project proposals, engineering reports, and calculations to maintain high technical accuracy.
- Monitor and manage the department's budget, revenue, forecasting, and overall financial performance.
- Establish departmental goals and drive staff development through ongoing training and mentorship programs.
- Support senior leadership in business development initiatives through client engagement and community involvement.
- Foster a positive, collaborative culture that reflects company values and encourages employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university; Master's degree (MS) preferred.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license — mandatory requirement.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience, including laboratory testing, construction observation, field quality assurance, site grading, and supervising construction materials testing.
- Alternative consideration: 4 years of experience combined with military background.
- Leadership experience: At least 2 years managing teams (may be waived for candidates with military experience).
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Solid technical knowledge of construction materials testing procedures and specifications.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management.
