Job Description
NY Enrichment Group is seeking a passionate and engaging
*American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor*
to lead interactive ASL classes for middle school students (grades 6–8). This program introduces students to the fundamentals of ASL and Deaf culture while fostering empathy, communication skills, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will have experience working with youth, proficiency in ASL, and a passion for teaching language through fun, hands-on activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach engaging ASL lessons tailored to middle school learners.
  • Introduce students to ASL vocabulary, finger spelling, conversational skills, and Deaf culture.
  • Incorporate interactive learning methods such as games, partner activities, and role-play.
  • Encourage respect, inclusion, and awareness of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities.
  • Manage classroom dynamics and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with NYEG's Director of Operations regarding scheduling and feedback.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language.
  • Experience teaching or working with youth in an educational or enrichment setting.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.

Additional programming will arise with other NYEG partners once the candidate begins.
