Position: Food Service Stock Assistant/Helper - Edustaff

Location: LHS

Work schedule: 7 hours per day (6:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)

Pay Rate: $17.32/hour

Position Summary

The Stock Assistant plays a vital supporting role to the Food Service Procurement Specialist and Manager by assisting with daily deliveries, order fulfillment, stock rotation, and inventory organization. This position also helps with food service production, service tasks, POS operations, and cleaning and sanitizing duties, while providing excellent customer service to students and staff. The role ensures compliance with food service standards for grades 9 through 12 and promotes a safe, nutritious, and welcoming dining experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• ServSafe certification required or willingness to obtain.
• Completion of a physical exam with Concentra is mandatory.
• Physically able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, squat, and lift over 30 lbs. daily.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), safety and sanitation standards, food preparation methods, portion control, proper food handling, and storage.
• Ability to accept instruction and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficient in counting money and making change.
• Experience with computers and cash registers.
• Able to work safely with large kitchen equipment.
• Skilled at developing positive working relationships with supervisory personnel, students, and community members and sensitivity to specific needs.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptable.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

• Adhere strictly to uniform policy: hairnet, non-verbal hat, uniform shirt, appropriate black pants, and rubber-soled shoes.
• Follow daily menus and meet all meal requirements.
• Maintain CEU certifications as required by MDE.
• Communicate daily with the Food Service Procurement Specialist and Manager regarding operations.
• Fill orders for elementary schools accurately and timely.
• Receive and inspect deliveries to ensure products are present, undamaged, and at proper temperatures; Notify Food Service Procurement Specialist with any issues.
• Maintain and organize walk-in cooler, walk-in freezer, and dry storage areas.
• Operating POS and counting cash drawer after meal periods and submitting collected money and appropriate paperwork to the manager.
• Report any concerns involving students, teachers, or staff to the Manager.

Food Production, Sanitation & Safety

• Serve food in accordance with USDA and National School Lunch & Breakfast Program guidelines and all District and MDE regulations.
• Assist with meal production and service tasks including line setup/breakdown, serving, replenishment, cleaning/sanitizing serving wells and lines, cleaning food prep areas, washing dishes, labeling, dating, and storing leftovers.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety in compliance with local and state health standards.
• Follow all building security and safety policies at all times.

Teamwork & Support

• Provide assistance wherever needed to support daily operations.
• Collaborate with and take direction from the Procurement Specialist and Manager to ensure efficient meal service.
• Be flexible and prepared to fill in on any station as needed to maintain smooth operations.
• Provide excellent customer service and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

This role requires a hands-on team player committed to excellence, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to manage tasks efficiently to ensure a safe, nutritious, and welcoming dining experience for both students and staff.

Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189.

Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential.

All staff members are expected to maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward one another at all times.

Selected candidates will be required to have a district paid fingerprint criminal history check processed through the Michigan State Police and FBI.
