Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Analytics provides analytical and reporting support for Chicago Booth Advancement's fundraising and alumni engagement strategies. This role supports departmental processes, prepares information and analysis, and helps optimize data-driven decision-making in close coordination with analytics and development colleagues. The Assistant Director collaborates with team members to extract, analyze, and maintain data; performs routine and ad hoc reporting; maintains documentation on data and analysis best practices; and ensures data accuracy and consistency across advancement functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develops an in-depth knowledge of fields and records in the alumni and donor database and supporting applications, and assists with data requests, extracts, and list generation.
  • Helps maintain the Analytics team's suite of certified deliverables through auditing and investigation of new reporting capabilities for potential enhancements and solutions.
  • Works with and assists the Data Integrity team to create applicable tools and audits that support data maintenance procedures.
  • Conducts formal and informal trainings on the database and supporting applications to advance data literacy and application usage among team members.
  • Ensures compliance with University data governance policies across all tasks and projects.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate process documentation and materials as required.
  • Provides administrative support for the Analytics and Data Science team to ensure efficient team performance.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates information on new and existing prospects, solving problems as they arise.
  • May provide guidance to analysts, train staff members on fundraising, report writing, and research.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

  • Analyzing and combining data sets and producing clear, informative reports and presentations.  

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Background with fundraising databases and reporting tools such as Business Objects, Blackbaud products, or Salesforce.
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the University's alumni database, Phoenix.
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Windows computer environment, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including ability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organization skills.

  • Scrupulous attention to matters of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of current trends in fundraising and alumni relations, including benchmarking and metrics.

Working Conditions

  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
  • Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
  • Work evenings and weekends on occasion.
