Independent Contractor Clinical Trials Finance Manager

Location: Remote with travel to CVAUSA practices

Organization: Cardiovascular Associates of America (CVAUSA)

Job Type: Contractor, fulltime

At CVAUSA, we believe financial precision powers scientific progress. Our clinical research network, called Cardiovascular Research Solutions (CVRS), is rapidly expanding across the country, and with it comes the opportunity to design a financial framework that keeps pace with innovation. That's why we're hiring a finance leader with clinical research experience to lead the finance group for our clinical research program.

The Role

As the Clinical Trials Financial Manager, you will be part of the broader CVAUSA finance team, but with a clear mandate: to lead and own the clinical trials financial program. From budget planning and forecasting to account reconciliation and collection, you will ensure that every aspect of clinical research finance is built on accuracy, transparency, and foresight.

This isn't just about managing numbers. It's about building and running the financial backbone of a multi-site, multi-practice research enterprise, where precision, scalability, and insight are key. You'll be the first in this role, shaping processes from the ground up—with the freedom to design smarter systems and the support of a national finance team behind you.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead the clinical trials finance infrastructure and team. Lead all aspects of industry-sponsored trial finances, including account collection, reconciliation, budget planning, and management.
  • Build from the ground up. Design and implement financial processes, workflows, and systems that scale across multiple practices and locations.
  • Collaborate with purpose. Work within the CVAUSA financial team while partnering with site leadership, research staff, and executive leaders to align trial finances with overall practice and network goals.
  • Drive clarity. Translate financial data into insights that inform strategy at both the practice and enterprise level.
  • Future-proof our network. Develop annual budget forecasts and long-term financial models that anticipate growth and innovation.
  • Elevate compliance and accuracy. Ensure financial practices meet industry standards, sponsor obligations, and internal governance requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience managing the financial lifecycle of industry-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Proven expertise in budget forecasting, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with private practices or private equity-owned practices is highly valued.
  • Ability to thrive in the complexity of multi-practice, multi-location environments.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to design and implement processes in a fast-growing organization.
  • A self-starter with a strategic mindset who embraces the challenge of being the inaugural leader of trial finances.

Ideal Experience

  • Direct account responsibility for industry-sponsored clinical trials in a healthcare delivery organization.
  • Proven success working across multiple sites or practices.
  • Familiarity with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) and their financial modules.
  • Experience working with sponsors to coordinate payment schedules, payment timing, and reconciliation.
  • Ability to partner effectively with both research and finance stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial outcomes.

Why CVAUSA

At CVAUSA, you're not just balancing budgets—you're fueling discovery. This role offers a rare opportunity: to step into a national organization at a defining moment, work alongside our finance team, and build the systems that will define the future of cardiovascular clinical trials. This isn't just finance. This is the foundation of clinical research—designed, built, and led by you.
