Role Overview

As a Lead Full-Stack Software Engineer at EverBee, you will play a pivotal role in developing and scaling our SaaS platform and Chrome extension. You'll design, build, and maintain robust, high-performing systems across the full stack — collaborating closely with frontend, backend, and infrastructure teams. This role offers high ownership, creative freedom, and the opportunity to directly influence both the product and technical roadmap.

You'll work alongside the Engineering Manager to ensure timely delivery of features in a lean, fast-paced environment. With a small team that currently includes one frontend developer and one QA tester, you will also take on backend development responsibilities as a key technical leader driving execution and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain performant, scalable, and secure full-stack features.

• Design and maintain RESTful APIs, implement authentication with OAuth/Devise, and manage background jobs with Sidekiq/Redis.

• Implement and optimize search functionality using Elasticsearch/Searchkick.

• Manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and system design decisions.

• Mentor team members and establish best practices.

• Translate business requirements into reliable, high-performance technical solutions.

• Work closely with engineering manager to ensure timely delivery of features.

Must-Have Skills

• Backend: Ruby on Rails 7+, 5+ years professional experience

• Frontend: / React, 3+ years (SSR, API routes, best practices)

• Database: PostgreSQL — advanced querying and performance tuning

• Search & Jobs: Elasticsearch / Searchkick, Sidekiq / Redis

• DevOps: Docker & Kubernetes

• API & Authentication: RESTful API design, OAuth / Devise

Highly Desirable Skills

• Experience with e-commerce platforms (Etsy, Shopify, etc.)

• Analytics and large-scale data processing

• TypeScript with

• AWS cloud services

• Payment processing systems (Stripe or similar)

Key Technical Challenges

• Processing and managing large-scale datasets (millions of product listings)

• Implementing complex business logic (revenue tracking, trademark detection)

• Integrating third-party APIs while managing rate limits and tokens

• Optimizing system performance (query tuning, caching, SSR improvements)

• Coordinating full-stack features, including data flow, state management, and API design Leadership & Ownership Expectations

• Lead system architecture and end-to-end design decisions.

• Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

• Communicate technical solutions to stakeholders with clarity and business impact.

• Ensure high system reliability, scalability, and user experience quality.

• Collaborate across teams to ensure seamless backend–frontend integration.
