Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer II with a strong interest in surface transportation and roadway design to join our Transportation team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of civil engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of roadway, highway, and civil infrastructure projects throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specific and limited portions of broader roadway and civil design assignments under moderate supervision.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, engineering drawings, and technical reports in support of roadway, grading, drainage, and traffic design.
  • Assist in the development of plans, profiles, cross sections, and construction details using MicroStation.
  • Gather and analyze engineering data, survey information, and field observations following established standards and procedures.
  • Identify and communicate design discrepancies or conflicts and propose practical engineering solutions.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers or design technicians.
  • Support project delivery in accordance with established scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including traffic, structural, and environmental disciplines, to deliver cohesive project solutions.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and preparation of project documentation for review and submittal.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in roadway or civil infrastructure design, or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in surface, roadway, or site civil design.
  • Familiarity with Caltrans, TxDOT, or other DOT design standards and specifications.
  • Experience using MicroStation, including OpenRoads Designer, for design and plan production.
  • Experience with stormwater design, grading, and traffic design.
  • Knowledge of construction documentation and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong technical report writing and design specification skills.
