We are looking for a Workers Comp Claim Supervisor. The Claims Supervisor ensures a high-quality work product by providing leadership and supervision to adjusters, nurse case managers, and team assistants. This role focuses on effective claim handling, employee development, and client satisfaction, while maintaining compliance with workers' compensation laws, rules, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete initial review of First Report of Injury (FROI) for coverage, compensability issues, red flags, and recovery potential; assign claims to adjusters and nurse case managers with initial instructions.
  • Provide direct training and assign mentors to employees for further development.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve employee performance.
  • Supervise and instruct team assistants.
  • Handle employee complaints, grievances, and personnel issues, escalating to Claims Manager when appropriate.
  • Ensure claims are managed appropriately.
  • Maintain a claim closure ratio of 97%.
  • Conduct routine diary reviews and maintain daily interaction with adjusters and nurse case managers.
  • Update client profiles and complete contact logs for supervised accounts.
  • Ensure proper communication of claims issues with clients through monthly calls and quarterly meetings.
  • Attend supervisor meetings and lead monthly team meetings.
  • Educate staff on case law updates via continuing education sessions.
  • Interview applicants for employment.
  • Assist with research of No Record Mail.
  • Ensure coverage during vacations and extended absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Claims Manager, QA Manager, Training Coordinator, Director of TPA Operations, or Executive Vice President.
Skills, knowledge & expertise
  • Extensive knowledge of workers' compensation law, rules, procedures, and case law.
  • Understanding of liability principles, medical terminology, and medical procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work eight hours daily in front of a computer screen.
  • Attend claims meetings at client locations.
  • Client visits, seminars for CEU credits.
  • Cover hearings or mediations if adjuster is unavailable.
  • Travel to prospect locations for presentations as needed.
