The incumbent is responsible for the security and integrity of the City of Midwest City data and information systems. The Information Security Specialist is responsible for the administration and availability of many critical hardware and software systems as well as daily operations of the department. Assists the IT Director with supervision, managing strategic planning, operational organization, department direction, and controlling activities of the department. In addition, the Information Security Specialist facilitates the needs of all city employees by overseeing the requests submitted through the IT work request system and is assigned projects or to a project team. High school graduate with A+ certification, Net+, Security+, CCNA, CISSP, CCISO certifications or equivalent experience required. This position is extremely technical and requires previous experience. A technical bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field is required, with at least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience. Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) preferred. Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and be insurable. Employee is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and must carry a cell phone. Employee must be available for overtime working both nights and weekends as needed. This position is designated as safety/security sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion and random drug and alcohol screening.
