What You'll Do
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Supervisor is to execute the day's work in support of operations servicing the customer by proactively maintaining the equipment and facility that focuses on people and food safety. Drive for continued improvement in equipment uptime and availability by focusing on People, Processes, and Performance.
- Provide technical leadership and management for site maintenance personnel ensuring the duties of self and others meet all safety policies and regulations.
- Perform wrench time analysis and identify opportunities to drive efficiencies within the maintenance team.
- Lead and participate in the continuous technical and reliability improvement of the facility, equipment, and systems in support of site operational goals.
- Develop the maintenance team through mentoring, coaching, encouragement, and development of formalized training plans.
- Implement industry best practices, technology, tools, and training.
- Lead advanced troubleshooting and repair of automation control systems, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, motor control systems, PLCs, and electrical circuits
- Perform controls systems assessments to maintain and improve equipment reliability.
- Safeguard change management methodology related to control systems.
- Capture and trend metrics to resolve mechatronics problems that create performance deficiencies.
- Prepare and issue work schedules, deadlines, and duty assignments for maintenance staff.
- Provide associates with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
- Proactively communicate the status of technical issues and potential variances to aligned upon timelines with leadership, ensuring resulting impacts to systems and OEE is understood.
- Supervise the work of maintenance associates to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.
- Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
- Conduct staff meetings to relay general information or to address specific topics, such as safety.
- Counsel associates in work-related activities, personal growth, or career development.
- Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures
- Maintains accurate maintenance records related to control systems and preventative maintenance
- Serve as the shift subject matter expert in control and automation technology, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Experience And Education You Need
- 5+ years of relevant maintenance leadership experience on industrial automation systems is REQUIRED.
- Associates / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Automation / Mechatronics is preferred.
- Must be self-driven with the ability to work independently with little or no direction or supervision.
- Formal training and/or professional certifications in controls, PLC, network communications, etc is preferred
- Familiar and practical experience with Society of Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) Best Practices
- Familiar and practical experience with Predictive Maintenance technologies (Vibration, Infrared, Ultrasound)
- Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), or Certified Automation Professional (CAP) are preferred.
- Six Sigma experience (Green Belt), demonstrated by successful completion of a major improvement project, is preferred.
- Ability to set up, configure, and maintain automated systems (EtherNet, Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet, and ControlNet).
- Ability to understand, review, and analyze functional descriptions, instrumentation diagrams, blueprints, and interpret PLC ladder logic.
- Experience with low and medium voltage distribution systems (24VDC to 480VDC).
- nAdvanced electrical and controls troubleshooting ability of automation control systems: PLC, HMI, hardware, software, their related equipment, and field devices.
- Rockwell Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA portal required.

- Ability to perform the same work duties as those supervised or perform more difficult or skilled tasks or assist in their performance.
- Fully competent to a high degree in mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, as well as interpret pencil sketches and diagrams.
- Ability to supervise and inspect work performed by all Levels of maintenance associates.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, if required, including on call
- Willingness to develop a mentoring relationship in order to contribute experience, skills, and wisdom to subordinate employees for their development.
- Receptive to management development suggestions and willing to seek additional knowledge to facilitate job growth.
- Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: they must get along with others without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism from a manager.
- Strong communication skills
- Tools and Technology: Knowledge of various types of equipment in maintenance trade, Knowledge of ISO, Knowledge of SAP preferred, Microsoft knowledge preferred and Forklift certification.
