Summary: Performs complete project design tasks for complex projects without supervision, including but not limited to HVAC system design, plumbing system design, and fire protection system design. Manages the entire project team. Possesses working knowledge of other engineering disciplines, good writing and communication skills, and knowledge of local agency standards and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs engineering studies and writes reports documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Provides high level design direction to junior project design staff and review junior staff work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Edits project specifications.
  • Reads codes and standards to ensure code compliant designs.
  • Manages project team to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Monitor project budget throughout design.
  • Coordinates with vendors and agencies to complete the design.
  • Conducts site visits to confirm existing conditions and perform job site observations.
  • Reviews and responds to RFIs and submittals.
  • Resolves project field issues with the assistance of other senior staff members.
  • Communicates with others.
  • Uses Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other software.
  • Continues education through seminars, classes, and additional readings.
  • Performs quality control reviews of projects designed by others.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in mechanical engineering or related field, professional engineering license, and 12+ years experience.
