Senior Brand Strategist, AWS Brand

The Senior Brand Strategist drives global brand and creative strategy for AWS, actively shaping how the brand is perceived in the world. This role is highly collaborative and focused on brand positioning, messaging, and creative strategy for our brand identity and design system, events, brand campaigns, content, and beyond. You'll be responsible for clarifying various inputs, identifying novel insights and brand opportunities, creating mechanisms to enable the larger marketing organization, and crafting creative briefs that lead to consistent, compelling, and distinct brand experiences that positively shift brand perceptions and grow our business.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with Brand Insights team to conduct, analyze, and synthesize customer and creative research to inform brand and marketing outputs
- Connect the dots between business goals, customer insights, marketing strategies, and creative development
- Identify novel customer insights and brand opportunities to drive consistent, high-bar creative which positively shift perceptions and grows our business
- Actively shape foundational brand guidance including brand positioning, messaging, personality, and voice and tone guidance
- Partner closely with global teams and develop scalable mechanisms to activate global positioning, messaging, and creative strategy across the business
- Collaborate with creative, marketing, and product stakeholders to define the brand experience across the customer experience to deliver high-quality, consistent, and distinct customer experiences.
- Write creative briefs and meaningfully collaborate with creative teams to deliver bar-raising, performant creative outcomes
- Present creative strategy and recommendations to senior leadership (VP/SVP/C-suite); influencing decision making through data-driven and emotional storytelling, and gracefully defend decisions and recommendations
- Elevate the discipline of brand and creative strategy through the development and delivery of brand training and thought leadership
- Manage multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic, culture
- Facilitate open and productive strategic debates that result in the best possible outcomes for customers
- Contribute to a diverse and inclusive creative culture that enables world-class creative development

- Experience managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working across teams and synthesizing feedback from multiple teams/owners
- 7+ years' experience in brand development or strategy inside advertising agencies, brand strategy consultancies, or in-house marketing organizations
- Experience leading brand positioning, voice and tone, and visual system development for large organizations with complex product and service offerings
- Experience working with marketing stakeholders and brand creative teams to develop clear and durable visual brand systems across several partner and customer touch points
- Experience managing external agencies
- 10+ years' experience as a brand planner/strategist inside brand/advertising agencies, brand strategy consultancies, or the equivalent role inside a brand marketing organization
- Experience with AWS or AI and cloud/infrastructure sectors
- Track record of navigating complex businesses and producing breakthrough, famous work that drove results
- Experience defining mechanisms for using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
