Position Summary
The Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating group room business and related revenue through proactive sales, client relationship management, and strategic account development. This role partners with the Director of Sales to implement group-focused sales strategies, identify new business opportunities, and position the hotel as the preferred choice for meetings, incentives, conferences, and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Consistently achieve or exceed monthly group room night and revenue goals.
- Proactively solicit new and repeat group business through direct sales, networking, referrals, and industry partnerships.
- Prepare and present customized proposals, contracts, and pricing for group clients in accordance with booking guidelines.
- Conduct site inspections, client meetings, and familiarization (FAM) trips to showcase the hotel's group offerings.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales to execute targeted action plans to drive group bookings.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with meeting planners, travel managers, and key accounts.
- Partner with Catering, Events, and Operations teams to ensure flawless execution of group programs and client satisfaction.
- Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry conferences, and client events to enhance visibility and generate leads.
- Maintain knowledge of competitive set, industry trends, and market conditions to inform strategy.
- Contribute to the development of a proactive, results-oriented sales culture within the team.
- Support corporate initiatives and brand programs that drive awareness and loyalty within the group market segment.
- Submit annual SMART goals, market action plans, and professional development objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in business, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a sales Manager or Account Director with a focus on group sales in a hotel or resort environment.
- Proven success in prospecting, account development, contract negotiation, and closing group business.
- Strong ability to present proposals and conduct persuasive client meetings.
- Experience coordinating site visits, fam trips, and group-related client events.
- Proficiency with hotel sales software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally with Catering, Events, and Operations.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with group sales trends.
