Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Traffic Control Specialist / Emergency Dispatcher to join our team. This critical role involves managing emergency communications, coordinating traffic control operations, and supporting law enforcement and medical response teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations efficiently. Prior experience in EMT, law enforcement, or dispatching is highly desirable. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to community safety and emergency response efforts in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and prioritize emergency calls using multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Dispatch appropriate personnel and resources promptly, utilizing GPS and GIS tools for accurate location tracking.
  • Provide clear, concise instructions to callers, including phone triage and basic first aid guidance when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of all communications through data entry, transcription, and documentation systems.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and coordinate traffic control measures with law enforcement or other agencies as needed.
  • Utilize analysis skills to assess situations quickly and determine the appropriate response actions.
  • Manage conflict situations effectively through negotiation and conflict management techniques while maintaining calm communication.
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, medical personnel, and other emergency responders to facilitate efficient incident management.

Qualifications

  • Prior EMT experience, law enforcement background, or dispatching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, and data entry systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, first aid procedures, and phone triage protocols.
  • Strong communication skills with excellent phone etiquette and conflict management abilities.
  • Proficiency in typing, transcription, and handling multi-line phone systems efficiently.
  • Demonstrated analysis skills for assessing emergency situations rapidly.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-stakes environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Excellent negotiation skills combined with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. This role is vital for ensuring public safety through effective communication and coordination during emergencies. Pay: $ $24.00 per hour
