About the Role

As Managing Director of Operations, you'll be a core member of our leadership team—shaping strategy, strengthening infrastructure, and helping us grow sustainably. You'll lead three dynamic teams (Admin, Finance, and IT), oversee cross-organizational systems, and partner closely with leaders across departments to ensure our internal operations reflect our external mission.

The Managing Director leads strategic execution across all operational domains - ensuring financial integrity, effective internal systems, responsive technology, and administrative coordination - aligning with our values of equity, abundance, and accountability. This position is ideal for a collaborative, detail oriented leader with a passion for people-centered change. You'll be part coach, part architect, part connector.

What You'll Lead

Team Leadership & Culture Building

Supervise and mentor three sub-team leads (Admin, Finance, IT) and their teams.

Foster a coordinated, high-performing, and values-aligned culture across operations.●

Translate big-picture strategy into clear goals, plans, and outcomes.

Collaborate with the executive team on organizational planning and innovation.

Operational Excellence

Admin: Ensure strong internal systems for scheduling, documentation, and staff support.

Finance: Oversee budgeting, compliance, procurement, and financial integrity in

partnership with our Controller and external accounting firm.

IT: Lead the evolution of our tech ecosystem—hardware, software, systems—and

ensure data integrity, cybersecurity, and digital accessibility.

Cross-Functional Strategy

Co-create systems for performance management, internal communications, and

workflow improvements across teams.

Align our infrastructure with staff needs, growth goals, and our equity-centered mission.

Lead the development and implementation of internal policies that prioritize

transparency, consistency, and equity.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate for this role is a mission-aligned, detail-oriented leader with deep

experience managing nonprofit operations, budgets, teams, and systems. This person brings a strong equity lens, exceptional communication skills, and a coaching-centered management style.

Operational Strategist – You have a deep understanding of nonprofit infrastructure and

can design, lead, and refine systems that serve both people and performance.

Collaborative Leader – You enjoy mentoring and managing teams, building alignment

across departments, and fostering cultures of accountability and trust.

Detail-Oriented and Decisive – You're comfortable making data-informed decisions,

managing multiple timelines, and ensuring operational accuracy.

Finance- and Tech-Literate – You have experience managing budgets and working with

financial systems and vendors, and you understand how technology can improve

organizational effectiveness.

Mission-Driven and Equity-Centered – You are deeply committed to racial equity,

power-shifting philanthropy, and community leadership.

Process-Minded and Agile – You bring structure and order to complexity and adapt

when new needs or opportunities arise.

Nice-to-Have Experience

Familiarity with tools like QuickBooks/Intacct, CRMs, Google Workspace, ClickUp,

Zoom, and grant management platforms

Experience navigating public and private funding environments

Prior experience working with external vendors and consultants
