What You'll DoServe as the Technical Advisor for Global Security and Strategic Partnerships (GSSP) reporting to the Senior Director of GSSP. Responsible for advising the GSSP Senior Director on tactical and strategic initiatives being pursued across GSSP programs, and supporting excellent execution of GSSP work scope for the company at both the Y-12 National Security Complex. GSSP missions include programs from NNSA Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, Naval Reactors, Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Intelligence Community, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and other government organizations. A large portion of the GSSP mission is also supporting these governmental programs through other Labs/Plant/Sites.
Major job duties include the following:
- Support various GSSP Advisory Boards to increase GSSP's momentum and enhance the site's reputation with the customer base, peer organizations in NNSA/DOE, other government agencies, and internationally.
- Support the GSSP Senior Director and specific headquarters organizations to exceed the two NNSA performance goals for the Management and Operating (M&O) contractor Y-12 site for which GSSP is responsible – Nuclear Threat Reduction and Strategic Partnership Programs.
- Supporting program development activities to grow new work and to sustain critical skills in support of the broad initiatives across the GSSP portfolio and contributes to other initiatives of GSSP at the direction of the GSSP Senior Director (i.e. NNSA NA-21).
- Support the GSSP Program Directors to assure superb customer relations and program execution.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with both customers and other partners at the Department of Energy (DOE) Laboratories, Plants, and Sites.
The GSSP Technical Advisor has a significant level of authority and provides strategic leadership and vision to the organization. This position is recognized internally and externally as an expert or leader within the field of specialization and provides cross-disciplinary expertise. This position makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive technical activities. The individual in this role must demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature technical judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented technical problems, determining program objectives and requirements, and developing standards and guides for diverse activities.

- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
- PhD: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
- OR twenty or more years of relevant education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major and 4 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. - Acknowledged expertise in a field related to nuclear nonproliferation/counter proliferation programs, university partnership programs, emergency response programs, Y-12 operations and broader NNSA programs is required.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required with the ability to interact, present and communicate (both written and oral) with CNS Senior Management, NNSA, and other government customers on a regular basis.
- Moderate domestic and international travel is required.
- MS degree in a relevant discipline and 15 years' relevant work experience or Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and 8 years' relevant work experience is preferred.
- DOE security clearance at the SCI level.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic plans and leading complex, high-impact initiatives
- Strong understanding of global security trends, risk management frameworks, and partnership dynamics
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills – with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience at one of the NA-20/NA-80 NNSA or DoD HQ Program Offices in Washington, D.C. (through either a NNSA Graduate Fellowship, M&O technical advisor role, or other relevant experience).

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
