Welcome to Newark Day Nursery and Children's Center We are a nonprofit childcare center dedicated to providing the highest quality early childhood and school-age services to educate, enrich and inspire children and youth from culturally and economically diverse families.

We are looking for a part-time teacher to care for and educate children in our infant classroom. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to provide a loving, nurturing, and safe environment for little minds to learn and grow. As an infant teacher, you will be tasked with designing and implementing age-appropriate activities to support their development.

Working hours: Monday-Friday 2:30-5:30pm

Your job responsibilities and duties will also include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending to the physical and emotional needs of infants, including feeding, diapering, and comforting
  • Creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning
  • Monitoring and assessing the infants' progress, providing feedback to parents on their development.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized classroom
  • Following all state and federal regulations regarding infant care and education
  • Participating in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of childhood development.
  • Collaborating with a team of teachers to ensure a cohesive and quality learning environment

As an Infant Teacher, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Must be qualified as an Assistant Teacher or Teacher
  • Previous experience working with infants in a childcare center
  • Familiarity with child development theories and practices
  • CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Skills in caregiving, including infant care and general childcare practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
