Overview

The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) is seeking an Early Intervention Special Instruction Supervisor to plan, direct, and monitor provision of Early Intervention Special Instruction services to individuals eligible for Cuyahoga DD services. The nature of work will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Provide supervision and feedback to EI DS staff related to evidence based practices and adherence to internal policies, procedures and work expectations including monitoring of productivity and outcome data.
  • Direct and oversee the activities and work practices of EI DS staff serving the early intervention population. Monitor staff regarding adherence to policies and procedures for provision of special instruction. Prioritize caseloads based on operation and emergent needs.
  • Monitor adherence to DS certification process as directed by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.
  • Hire, train and further professionally develop EI DS staff. Provide or coordinate in-service opportunities to advance professional growth of staff.
  • Train and monitor EI DS staff related to fidelity components of evidence based early intervention including but not limited to: teaming, coaching, evaluation and assessment, recordkeeping/data entry and technical competency.
  • Schedule and oversee departmental meetings. Participate in department work efforts related to agency committees, task forces, and other initiatives as assigned. As necessary, make presentations or coordinate staff to present on applicable topics.
  • Coordinate shadowing and internships for EI DS students in collaboration with department leadership between local colleges and universities with Cuyahoga DD as outlined in contractual agreements.
  • Maintain and monitor time keeping system Kronos data for EI DS staff including professional leave requests, absences, and timecards. Manage staff mileage and work from home requests.
  • Implement best practice efforts for EI DSs with the management team, including the Department Director.
  • As necessary, represent Cuyahoga DD in dealings with other State, regional and local agencies and organizations. As necessary, attend and participate in meetings, committees, conferences and make presentations on applicable topics.
  • Participate in EI DS budget process.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May necessitate working beyond regular hours.

UNUSUAL REQUIREMENT: Access to reliable transportation.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES: May participate in supervision of EI Special Instruction students/interns placed in the Cuyahoga DD program. Supervise and evaluate EI special instruction staff. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of developmental disabilities, and programs and services to assist infants and toddlers with cognitive and social emotional delays.
  • Knowledge of referral procedures for all program areas.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with community resources.
  • Knowledge of current developments in the field of early intervention and treatment for people with disabilities.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals of different ages and varying mental and physical abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through speech and writing.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations while maintaining perspective and emotional stability.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve the performance of professional personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of persons and maintain perspective when dealing with difficult situations.

SALARY:  The minimum salary for Pay Schedule E is $61,538.00 It is important to understand that the actual starting salary will be determined based on many factors including the breadth and depth of the knowledge, skills, education and experiences brought by the candidate.  Also, it is Cuyahoga DD's intent to pay each employee a salary that is reasonable and competitive based on the market rate for the position, while also considering not only internal equity but also the budgetary constraints.

Remote Work:  Our positions are not 100'% remote.  There is an onsite expectation for all of our positions.  Although we may permit some remote work at home with hybrid work schedules for some of our positions, we do expect staff to be able to commute to our facilities in Cuyahoga County, Ohio on a regular basis.  Travel between our four locations in Parma, Cleveland, and Highland Hills, Ohio is required. 

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree required. Preferred fields of study include Education, Special Education or a closely related field.
  • The appropriate Early Intervention Certificate is required for the position; however, it may be obtained upon hire.
  • At least two years' supervisory experience is preferred.
  • At least two years' experience in implementation of Ohio's Evidence Based Early Intervention approach (Primary Service Provider), is preferred.
  • Valid state of Ohio driver's license and continued maintenance of excellent driving record.
