Engineering Technician

The R&D Engineering Technician will support the Research and Development (R&D) team by assisting engineers with prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance. This hands-on role involves both mechanical and electrical work, as well as lab organization and coordination of calibration activities. The position is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys working with tools, testing equipment, and collaborating with engineers in a lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist R&D engineers (mechanical, electrical, and sustaining) with experiments, testing, and prototype development.
· Conduct component, module, and system testing according to approved protocols.
· Assemble or modify electrical, mechanical, or software components per engineering specifications.
· Record and document test results and activities following engineering documentation standards.
· Maintain and organize R&D lab equipment, ensuring compliance with 5S standards.
· Coordinate calibration of lab tools and measurement devices.
· Provide input to engineers regarding manufacturability, serviceability, and usability of designs.
· Use hand tools, pallet jacks, 3D printers (training provided), and other lab/mechanical equipment.
· Support fabrication, soldering, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems as needed.
Required Qualifications
· Electromechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience (required)
· Mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills (required)
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (required)
· Ability to use lab tools such as force gauges, calipers, scales, multimeters, and hand tools
· Comfortable using pallet jacks and basic lab equipment
· Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in medical device R&D or a regulated industry (preferred)
· Familiarity with 3D printing, machining, or soldering (preferred)
· Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software (preferred)
· Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) (preferred)
· Basic Python coding for data collection or automation (preferred)
· Experience documenting engineering testing or working with measurement systems

Pay: $ $35.00 per hour
