Description

The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is looking for a talented Senior Electronics Design Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Eastern Service Area - Engineering Services Groups.

In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the FAA's Telecommunications Portfolio to enhance and modernize National Airspace Connectivity. Your main focus will be on Small Tower Voice Switches, Telecommunications Infrastructure Replacement, Air to Ground Protocol Converters, and NEXCOM Radios. This is a design-centric position aimed at modernizing Voice Switches for the Air Traffic Control System across the Eastern United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing site surveys to draft the scope of work for site preparation.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations at remote locations for preparation needs.
  • Draft comprehensive site preparation scope of work based on surveys and facility data.
    • Identify required Contract Line-Item Numbers (CLINs) for site preparation.
    • Create cost estimates for the site preparation process.
  • Review contractor proposals for accuracy and adherence to the defined scope.
  • Generate Operational Risk Management pre-requisite programs for site preparation and voice-switch equipment installation.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to implement risk mitigations during the project implementation.
  • Coordinate and schedule site preparation activities with stakeholders and contractor teams.
  • Supervise site preparation and installation tasks performed by contractors.
  • Prepare periodic status reports on project progress.
  • Update Corporate Work Plan (CWP) data and facility drawings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Electronics Engineering Degree (B.S.) with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Willingness to travel over 50% of the time.
  • Eligibility for Public Trust Suitability (must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder who has resided in the US for the past 3 years).
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Solid understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of National Air Space (NAS) facilities including ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, and RCAG.
  • Familiarity with National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB) standards.
  • Experience with Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12.
