Job Description Summary
Crew member essential to the removal/milling of asphalt or concrete on highways, private roadways, parking lots and driveways. This is a highly skilled position involving the grade control and operation of a cold asphalt milling machine.
Requirements
- Safely and skillfully operates a cold milling machine following all standard equipment procedures.
- Responsible for proper usage of grade control devices.
- Maintains equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance and
repair tasks such as adjusting, fluid checks, replacing minor parts and lubricating equipment. - Responsible for daily checks of the milling drum, conveyors and water supply systems.
- Responsible for daily inspection and replacement of milling teeth on the milling drum to assure proper
cutting patterns on pavement surfaces. - Must maintain an acute sense of awareness to the surrounding footprint of the machine (watch for
obstructions while operating the equipment, such as ground utilities, curb and gutters). - Maintain constant visual contact with co-workers on the ground and trucks in front of the machine.
- Must perform general laborer duties as assigned
- Must have at least three years' experience operating a milling machine.
