Director of Data Strategy - Houston, TX or US Remote

What will you be doing?

  • Take the lead in architecting and executing a state-of-the-art data platform for real-time telemetry, historical analysis, AI training, and operational reporting.
  • Develop and implement an effective strategy for data transformation, warehousing, governance, and access across the organization.
  • Work closely with AI/ML teams to ensure the integrity of data pipelines for model development and inference, both batch and real-time.
  • Collaborate with software engineering, product, and operations teams to integrate data visibility into user-facing and internal products.
  • Champion best practices in data quality, lineage, privacy, and access control.
  • Assess and deploy tools and technologies that enhance data scalability, observability, and developer efficiency.
  • Build and lead a talented team of data engineers, data scientists, and analytics experts.
  • Foster clear communication and technical excellence across engineering and cross-functional teams.

What are we looking for?

  • 8+ years of experience with data systems, including 2-3 years in a leadership role or managing a platform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Profound knowledge of modern data architecture patterns, including event-driven ingestion and hybrid models.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native data infrastructure such as Redshift, Athena, S3, Airflow, Spark, Kafka/Kinesis, and dbt.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a record of aligning data architecture to meet the needs of ML, software, and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting ML teams with clean, labeled, and organized data pipelines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of bridging technical depth and business context.
  • A genuine passion for fostering a culture of data excellence and making an impact in a data-driven environment.
