Senior Epic Application Analyst

Location: Houston, TX

Job Summary

The Senior Epic Application Analyst plays a key role in enhancing the performance, reliability, and functionality of enterprise Information Systems with advanced expertise in Epic applications. Responsibilities include intermediate to advanced analysis, design, configuration, testing, and implementation of Epic modules. This role ensures technology integrates effectively into operational workflows, optimizes system performance, and supports end-users with advanced problem-solving and consultation.

The Senior Analyst acts as a technical resource, provides mentorship to junior analysts, supports complex issues, and contributes to system training. This position typically reports to an Information Systems leadership role.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degree preferred
Licenses/Certifications
  • Epic Resolute Professional Billing (PB) - Claims & Remittance Certification required
Experience / Knowledge / Skills
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in large-scale corporate systems development within Healthcare Information Systems (MIS), or a combination of MIS and hospital operations
  • Strong working knowledge of large, complex Information Systems
  • Previous Epic or EHR systems experience (required)
  • Experience assisting junior analysts and supporting complex technical problems
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Epic build, support methodologies, and development tools
  • Strong analytical reasoning and technical aptitude
  • Effective planning, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated progression in leadership ability
Principal Accountabilities
Systems Development
  • Translate user and departmental needs into Epic system solutions
  • Conduct project reviews and workflow walk-throughs incorporating technical, clinical, and business requirements
  • Enhance productivity and service levels through optimized system design
Technical Administration
  • Provide subject-matter expertise for Epic applications and integrated systems
  • Perform advanced analysis, build, testing, and implementation of Epic modules and related systems
  • Apply information systems theories, methodologies, and best practices
Technical Standards
  • Promote adherence to technical development, application support, and information management standards across teams
Application Support
  • Lead resolution of complex technical and application issues
  • Provide advanced support for Epic applications
  • Participate in rotating after-hours on-call support
Planning & Coordination
  • Develop, prioritize, and execute project tasks according to timelines
  • Maintain coordination with stakeholders across projects
  • Document and communicate project plans, status updates, and schedules
  • Inform management of progress and risks
Training
  • Support the preparation and delivery of staff training related to Epic workflows and functionality
Communication & Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders in both technical and non-technical settings
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead collaborative efforts
Customer Service
  • Deliver professional, courteous, and timely customer service
  • Provide proactive assistance and issue resolution support to users
