Join Our Team as a Billing and Invoicing Specialist
Are you detail-oriented and passionate about healthcare billing? We're seeking a dedicated Billing and Invoicing Specialist who will ensure compliance and efficiency in our billing processes. Your focus will be on:
- Information Verification: Ensure accuracy in billing details and compliance with legislation.
- Customer Account Monitoring: Keep track of payments and manage overdue accounts.
- Resolving Discrepancies: Investigate billing errors and recommend improvements.
- Collections Activities: Occasionally engage in collections as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers, ensuring all necessary information is accurate.
- Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims, resolving issues efficiently.
- Interpret insurance explanations of benefits and maintain knowledge of insurance guidelines.
- Investigate insurance claim denials and take action to recover reimbursements.
- Provide exceptional customer service for billing inquiries, explaining insurance processes while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with other billing tasks as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; a college degree is preferred.
- Experience: 6 months to 1 year in a related role, or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficient in practice management software and standard computer applications.
- Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking and managing time independently.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to evaluate performance and make necessary improvements.
Physical Demands:
- Required to sit, stand, and walk regularly, with occasional bending.
- Light physical effort required, including occasional lifting of items under 10 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment.
- This position can be performed remotely.
Special Notes:
- A commitment of 9 months in this role is required before seeking other positions within the organization, with exceptions only approved by leadership.
