Position Title: Assistant Project Manager
Location: Remote
Location of Candidate: Remote
Travel: 1-2 team meetings per year, if desired.
Duration: 3 years
Pay rate: $50.00/hr - $55.00/hr
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and support the technical assistance intake and application process for school bus fleet operators.
- Review and approve applications including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for technical assistance.
- Support and manage all aspects of technical assistance projects including technical review (specifically on validity of route analysis, charging plan development, and site planning), client engagement, and progress/budget tracking.
- Engage with utilities to ensure that school districts and bus fleet operators are engaging with the utilities as needed and required by project SOWs.
- Support broad engagement with schools and school bus fleets to inform them about the opportunities for school bus electrification.
- Track, document, and report on projects as needed, including number of districts, stage of projects, number of vehicles, progress on utility engagement.
- Strong project management skills to be able to oversee many projects at the same time.
- Ability to competently and confidently interact with outside stakeholders, including fleets, school districts, and school bus operators, consultants, charging station hosts, and utilities.
- Strong IT system fluency or ability to learn systems quickly.
- Ability to stay organized and follow/set processes for managing many projects is essential.
- Experience with utility engagement, vehicle fleet operations, and/or school district operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of clean transportation, electric vehicles, and electric vehicle charging is preferred.
- Understanding of EVs and EV infrastructure is preferred.
- Previous experience developing and/or reviewing fleet electrification plans, concept-level site plans, and one-line diagrams for EV charging sites is strongly preferred.
- Background in civil or electrical engineering and/or transportation or urban planning is preferred.
- Education and experience: Bachelors degree required. Background, including formal training in transportation, civil/mechanical/electric engineering, urban/transportation planning, or similar field preferred.
- Expected Years of Experience: 1-3 years.
- Technical & Professional Skills & Knowledge
- Has demonstrated a basic understanding of fundamental analytical principles. Knowledgeable in at least one technical or programmatic area in which the Authority is currently involved. Has awareness of relevant energy related aspects of research, environmental science and economics. Basic skills include an ability to interpret and analyze. Ability to produce quality communications, and demonstrate an aptitude to learn.
- Creativity in Project & Program Development:
- Implements task and project ideas suggested by others. Assists other project managers to develop and manage projects, or manages own projects under close supervision.
- Organization Skills & Productivity:
- Is productive on assignments but dependent on others for direction. Has capability to manage technical and cost control aspects of multiple on-going projects with close supervision. Approaches tasks logically and makes effective use of time and resources in performing work. Ability to assist in project's inception and through to completion, showing an ability to figure out next steps.
- Leadership / Interpersonal Relations / Judgement:
- Has good interpersonal relations with staff. Has friendly, helpful and positive attitude. Able to take direction criticism from superior and other senior staff.
- Communication Skills & External Relations:
- Has demonstrated ability to produce written products which are logical, technically and grammatically correct, but may require editing due to lack of familiarity with energy Deployment issues/needs/problems and Authority programmatic needs. Verbal skills show organization, good use of English and technical competence, but may reflect lack of experience or confidence. Demonstrates ability to establish contacts outside the Authority with suggestions from other staff.
