Safety Operations Manager

Essential Job Summary: The Safety Operations Manager will spearhead and oversee all aspects of safety across designated market areas, ensuring compliance with IWS's Health and Safety/Transportation Compliance Programs. This role requires effective communication and the promotion of a safe work environment for all staff members.

Essential Job Functions: To excel in this role, the individual must manage the following key responsibilities:

• Foster a positive safety culture by demonstrating commitment to safety policies at all levels.
• Analyze safety performance data, provide recommendations, and drive necessary changes to improve safety standards.
• Create and communicate safety goals and benchmarks to employees and management.
• Manage the assignment, development, and training of safety supervisors.
• Collaborate with all organizational levels to implement safety procedures and practices effectively.
• Oversee safety functions in multi-site operations for designated market areas.
• Conduct incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Administer employee care protocols for injuries, including tele-nurse programs and medical attention.
• Ensure regular monthly safety meetings are held at all locations, delivering necessary topics and participating actively.
• Implement leading indicator programs to analyze data and improve market safety outcomes.
• Lead team audits of facilities, including transfer stations and hauling depots.
• Manage route audits and compliance checks, reporting findings and recommending corrective measures.
• Work with management at all levels to enhance site-specific safety programs.
• Investigate safety concerns, document findings, and propose solutions.
• Assist the Risk Management department in developing loss prevention strategies.
• Review and communicate Behavioral Analysis report findings regularly.
• Recommend coaching materials when necessary.
• Ensure regulatory compliance across various safety standards and serve as a resource for the market area.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; relevant certifications (CIP, etc.) are a plus.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Health & Safety, preferably in the sanitation industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local government health, safety, and compliance regulations (DOT, OSHA, etc.).
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
• Participate in assigned special projects as needed.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety applications.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Salary Range: USD $100,000.00 - $130,000.00/Yr
