BluePearl Pet Hospital in Oak Creek, WI is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our Surgery Department

Pay Range CVTI-II: $21.00 - $33.50/hour

*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

This is a day shift position.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

  • Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

  • Proficient in surgical anesthesia monitoring and induction , with hands-on experience in pre-operative preparation, intra-operative support, and post-operative recovery across a variety of procedures.

  • Utilize their ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein.

  • Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.

  • Understands normal vital parameters and alerts the doctor when abnormal.

  • Able to set up intravenous fluids.

  • Administers subcutaneous fluids.

  • Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

  • Able to disconnect and connect the patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.

  • Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
