VIOLENCE PREVENTION HOTLINE COUNSELOR

The National Violence Prevention Hotline is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteer counselors to help save lives from preventable violence - donating a portion of their time weekly or monthly to answering calls from individuals experiencing violent ideation, as well as those who recognize warning signs of potential violence.

As a volunteer counselor, you will provide critical intervention and support to callers in crisis, helping them find alternatives to acting on violent thoughts and guiding them toward safety and healing. Experience in crisis counseling is required, while a background in violence prevention is helpful but not necessary, as we provide specialized training in this area.
- This work is challenging and emotionally demanding, but the impact is profound-each call answered can mean a life saved. The hotline has recently secured seed capital, allowing us to fund only 1-2 paid counselorsfar fewer than what’s needed to maintain
24/7 availability. To keep this life-saving service running long-term, we urgently need volunteer counselors to step in and ensure that no call for help goes unanswered.
