Senior Software Engineering Leader

What You'll Do:

  • Lead multiple technology projects and a skilled team of developers to design distributed microservices and full stack systems that meet the company's regulatory requirements.

  • Stay ahead of tech trends, experimenting with new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities, mentoring fellow engineers, and occasionally coding or reviewing codes.

  • Work together with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that create powerful experiences for millions of Americans seeking financial empowerment.

  • Utilize a variety of programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, alongside Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as numerous AWS tools and services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not count).

  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.

  • 9+ years of experience in one or more programming languages including JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.

  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service.

  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks.

  • 1+ years of experience in people management.

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.

This role will be based in McLean, VA with a salary range of $225,400 - $257,200 or Richmond, VA with a salary range of $204,900 - $233,800 for the Senior Lead Software Engineer position.

Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long term incentives (LTI).
