Lead DevOps Engineer (Austin, TX based Remote)

We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive operational excellence, improve developer experience, and lead infrastructure automation in a modern, enterprise SaaS environment. This role will focus on CI/CD pipeline optimization, infrastructure as code, security, observability, and team leadership.

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and evolve DevOps practices to improve automation, visibility, and team efficiency.

  • Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC).

  • Partner with architects and engineers on scalable, secure system design.

  • Implement observability, incident management, and continuous improvement best practices.

  • Ensure systems meet security and compliance standards.

  • Mentor and support a high-performing DevOps team.

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum processes and ensure timely project delivery.

  • Provide on-call support as part of a 24/7/365 operations model.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of DevOps experience, 3+ years in a leadership role.

  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity) and IaC (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, AWS CDK).

  • Proven track record managing cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, self-hosted).

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, ELK, Prometheus).

  • Proficiency in Linux environments, networking concepts, and debugging complex applications.

  • Experience supporting SaaS applications, preferably Java-based (Spring Boot, Oracle).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

  • Results-driven, collaborative, and adaptable in fast-paced environments.

  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and taking initiative.
