As a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Capital One, you will lead transformational projects that are pivotal to our success.

Your Role:

  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of impactful technology projects and lead a skilled team of developers specializing in distributed microservices and comprehensive full stack systems to create regulatory-compliant solutions.

  • Nurture your enthusiasm for technology by staying abreast of industry trends, exploring and adopting new technologies, engaging in tech communities, and mentoring fellow engineers, while occasionally rolling up your sleeves to contribute in coding or code evaluations.

  • Partner with digital product managers to build robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans on their journey to financial independence.

  • Utilize a range of programming languages including JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, along with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, container orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as various AWS tools and services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • A minimum of 6 years of software engineering experience (internships not included)

  • At least 1 year of experience in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience managing teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • 9+ years of experience in at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go

  • 3+ years of cloud service experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar

  • 4+ years of experience with open source frameworks

  • 7+ years of people management experience

  • 2+ years of experience with Agile software development practices

Compensation for this position varies by location:

Chicago, IL: $204,900 - $233,800
McLean, VA: $225,400 - $257,200
Richmond, VA: $204,900 - $233,800
