Position Summary

Pharmacy Technicians in Solid Dosage Compounding play a vital role in transforming raw materials into precise, high-quality medications that improve lives and ensure patient safety. At Empower Pharmacy, you'll be part of a mission-driven organization committed to producing innovative medications and expanding access to quality, affordable care for people everywhere.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares non-sterile capsules, tablets, and orally disintegrating tablets by weighing, mixing, labeling, and packaging ingredients in compliance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Drug Enforcement Administration, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health standards.
  • Operates and maintains solid dosage equipment such as tablet presses, encapsulators, blenders, and blister pack machines, while completing required logs and inspections.
  • Follows safety protocols using personal protective equipment that meets OSHA and American National Standards Institute requirements for all compounding and cleaning tasks.
  • Uses software systems to document work and ensure compliance with Food and Drug Administration, USP, Texas State Board of Pharmacy, and internal quality standards.
  • Collaborates with quality, regulatory, and research teams to improve formulations, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure product consistency.
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in solid dosage compounding, chemical mixing, blending, machine assembly and disassembly, granulation, calibration, compression processes and preventive maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical or industrial engineering, pharmaceutics or industrial pharmacy is preferred.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician or Technician Trainee license required; Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Nonsterile Compounding Certificate preferred; Lean Six Sigma White Belt preferred.

Shift: 1st (Monday-Thursday, 6 AM-4:30 PM, 1-hour lunch; Fridays off)
