Join our dedicated team supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as we enhance command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) We are looking for a talented Implementations Network Engineer to perform critical installation oversight, configuration, testing, and monitoring of network equipment, ensuring seamless activation of networks for projects vital to the Department of Defense.

The position is based at Scott AFB, IL.

Clearance Requirement: U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance

Anticipated Salary Range: $100,000 to $110,000

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with customers and manage the Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A) process, ensuring service activations meet DISA standards.
  • Collaborate with customers, solution architects, and vendor SMEs to resolve issues and implement changes.
  • Manage Service Orders in line with Change Management protocols.
  • Verify accuracy of Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) for scheduled network updates.
  • Initiate configurations of network devices using configlets.
  • Analyze DISN databases to validate and implement customer requirements.
  • Design and implement solutions for complex technical challenges through documentation and modification of configurations.
  • Coordinate with commercial vendors for customer circuit activation, ensuring end-to-end connectivity.
  • Monitor networks to assess impacts on traffic following deployed changes.
  • Consult with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements.
  • Engage with DISA project managers and customers to clarify any unclear requirements.
  • Facilitate stakeholder approvals to maintain the momentum of service requests.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in various network hardware specifications, configuration, and testing processes.
  • Experience in configuring, activating, and analyzing network systems.
  • Strong problem management and network performance management skills.
  • Understanding of telecommunications and IT terminology.
  • Knowledge of data and voice network design across various systems and protocols such as BGP and ISIS.
  • Experience with network services (e.g., BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS) and appliances (e.g., routers, firewalls).
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and independently drive assignments while developing process proficiencies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, team building, and collaboration skills.
  • Active Secret security clearance is mandatory.
  • DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with DISA or familiarity with its systems and processes.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint data entry.
  • Experience in customer outreach and the DISA Request Fulfillment process.
  • Familiarity with DISA documentation processes and related circulars.
  • Basic understanding of the Department of Defense and its operational hierarchies.
  • Network certifications such as Cisco (CCNA, CCNP) or Microsoft (MCSE) valued.
