Job Description

How many years of related experience are you looking for in your ideal candidate?: At least 1 year experience with the qualities/abilities written below
• Specific Systems Knowledge Required: We use, Teams, Xcel, Word, Epic
• Specific Systems Knowledge Preferred: Xcel, Work
• Any Required Certifications?: BLS, BEFAST upon hire for Client
• Top Three things Worker will be doing: greeting customers, answering calls (call lights and telephone), working with MDs and RNs
• Top Three Skillsets needed: anticipate needs, courteous and respectful, goes above and beyond, pleasant to be around
• Please confirm this is the correct Job Description: BLS (Basic Life Support) card required OR CPR card from the American Heart Association - required. (CPR Card Must come from the American Heart Association).

Minimum Education:
• High School Diploma and BLS Certification or CPR is required.

Required Experience:
• Receptionist. Answering and making phone calls. Manage the surgery schedule for the surgery center. Assemble patient packets for each surgery day.
• Patient and specimen transport.

Responsibilities:

• Communicate clearly orally and in writing. Excellent communication skills required.
• Proficient in medical terminology required. Professional demeanor.
• Spanish a plus. Completion of a ward clerk training program preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) card required OR CPR card from the American Heart Association - required. (CPR Card Must come from the American Heart Association).
• Promotes, ensures and improves customer service to external/internal (physicians and staff both on and off the Unit) customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organization's philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service.
• Processes, transfers and discharges using the Admit-Discharge- Transfer (ADT) system in the electronic medical record, including event management.
• Answers and appropriately routes internal and external telephone calls.
• Orders materials and supplies and collects equipment as needed for this Unit.
• Answers call systems; follows up with the nurse, patient and/or family as appropriate.
• Makes follow-up appointments for patients as necessary.
• In conjunction with the Discharge Coordinator, organizes transfers to other nursing facilities, including printing relevant sections of the patients chart.
• Prepares discharge packets and other documents for patients.
• Coordinates discharge times, contacts family members with pending discharge times, assists and facilitates a timely discharge when the patient is ready.
• Maintains/tracks the Unit's business equipment, including maintaining appropriately charges wireless carts.

Shift:
• 3pm-11:30pm
