Lead Front-Office Engineer in Investments Technology

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Lead Front-Office Engineer to join our esteemed investment firm. In this role, you will take on the position of technical leader within a Private Equity and Private Credit investment team, spearheading the design and implementation of innovative applications and proof of concepts aimed at enhancing market analysis, shaping investment strategies, and refining decision-making processes.

Your collaboration will be directly with portfolio analysts and traders, with a primary focus on developing robust systems and tools that empower investment decisions. We are on the lookout for a hands-on software architect and builder who possesses experience in designing, rapidly iterating, and delivering effective solutions. This role is ideal for a Senior Engineer or Lead Engineer who excels as an individual contributor and desires to lead technical initiatives without venturing into management.

Note: This position is based in Boston with a hybrid work arrangement (2 days per week in the office).

Qualifications:

• Excellent problem-solving abilities, allowing for critical and independent thinking with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional communication skills to clearly convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Full-stack development proficiency with at least 5 years of professional experience programming in Python, demonstrating the capability to write efficient and robust code for processing and analyzing large financial datasets.
• Experience with key Python Libraries (pandas, NumPy) is required.
• Background in front-end development and user experience (UX) design is essential; familiarity with Pythonic front-end and data visualization libraries (e.g., Plotly, Dash) is preferred.
• Experience with Version Control (Git) is necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and scale application systems in data-rich environments.
• Strong SQL skills are required, with familiarity with financial data platforms (such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Aladdin, eFront), financial databases, and data manipulation techniques preferred. Experience with statistical and time-series data analysis using Python libraries (such as Scikit-Learn, SciPy, cvxpy) is a plus.
• A solid understanding of financial markets and a willingness to learn about the Private Equity and Private Credit domains.
• Practical experience in developing and maintaining models, tools, and reports that exhibit a solid understanding of quantitative techniques, methods, statistics, and econometrics.
