General Definition of Work
The Guest Teacher - Non-Certified, under moderate supervision, performs intermediate level work with limited decision-making discretion providing for a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment in the absence of the regularly assigned teacher. The non-certified guest teacher will effectively manage the classroom and provide instruction for students based on teacher provided lesson plans, school provided lesson plans, or grade/department level created plans aligned to curriculum. This position is assigned at the building level for the entire school year and fills teacher absences as assigned by principal. The Guest Teacher - Non-Certified performs complex work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures related to classroom instruction and student supervision under the direction of the principal.

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Study and follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal
- Effectively manage the classroom and provide instruction for students based on teacher provided lesson plans, school provided lesson plans, or grade/department level created plans aligned to curriculum
- Apply various teaching techniques (including interactive methods and game-based activities) to encourage participation and facilitate learning
- Prepare educational materials, such as notes, exercises and additional resources
- Assign classwork and homework
- Take attendance according to school policy
- Grade students' assignments and provide constructive feedback
- Report any incidents regarding students' behavior in and out of the classroom
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, or any breach of the district's Code of Student Conduct to the school administration as soon as possible
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
- Oversee school equipment and ensure students use it properly
- Participate in grade-level meetings, faculty meetings, student intervention teams and other committees normally assigned to the regular classroom teacher
- Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication
- Perform related work as assigned or required
- Knowledge of lesson plan development and implementation
