Complex Claims Adjuster

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Handles litigated and non-litigated claims, including: Bodily Injury, Auto Physical Damage (APD) and Cargo claims, from start to finish.

• Manages a diverse caseload from across the U.S, ensuring timely and effective settlements while maintaining high professional standards.

• Caseload: 100-120 claims, with 50% involving litigated files

• Handle claims related to commercial auto incidents, including physical damage and liability claims; with a primary focus on complex/serious losses including fatality, amputation, paralysis, serious injury, etc.

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims efficiently.

• Manage both litigated and non-litigated claims.

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.

• Maintain detailed documentation for each claim.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful claim outcomes.

• Mentors less experience co-workers to develop their understanding of procedures, state laws, and help others improve their claims handling ability

• Ability to back-stop claims leadership in a temporary capacity

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent is required

• 10+ years in Heavy Commercial Auto/ Bodily Injury claims handling or a similar role.

• Experience with APD and Cargo claims is a huge plus, a mix of both carrier and TPA experience is acceptable, however carrier experience is highly preferred.

• Exposure to litigated claims, and current industry standards around multi state good faith claims practices is essential.

• Must hold an active adjuster license, multi-jurisdictional a plus.

• Strong understanding of commercial auto/trucking insurance and claims litigation principles.

• Strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work are required.

• Analytical thinking skills are needed to properly evaluate complex claims

• A strong attention to detail is necessary as claims adjusters must carefully review documents and policies

• Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills are required, experience with negotiations, knowledge of the litigation process is preferred but not required.

• Basic computer skills or the ability to quickly learn new software are required

• A strong work ethic and time management skills is needed, to efficiently handle a caseload ranging from minor to complex claims

• Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with clients and claimants is needed; including the potential for on-site customer visits

• Ability to calculate figures is required.

• Potential for travel to mediations or trials.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain professionalism in challenging situations while providing top tier service to customers and business partners.
